PERUGIA, Italy -- Italy was held to a 1-1 draw by Luxembourg on Wednesday in its final World Cup warm-up match before leaving for Brazil, with forward Mario Balotelli looking in impressive form. Claudio Marchisio headed Italy in front in the ninth minute after a splendid assist from Balotelli but Maxime Chanot levelled five minutes from time. It was Italys seventh successive match without a win, although the six draws and a defeat to Spain have all happened after securing qualification for the World Cup. "This test is absolutely not a failure, we tried to do things we had practiced in training," Italy coach Cesare Prandelli said. "But its clear we have to improve. But we had to try certain things as we have very few matches. "We know that we werent brilliant, but we leave with the knowledge that we can have a great World Cup." Prandelli had said Balotelli would amaze with his improved form and the AC Milan forward was involved in most of the Azzurris best moves. He went close to scoring on several occasions and hit the crossbar as Italy dominated. Italy departs on Thursday and will play Brazilian club Fluminense in a final friendly match on June 8, six days before kicking off its World Cup campaign against England in Manaus. Prandellis side also faces Costa Rica and Uruguay in Group D. Italy started brightly and took an early lead when Marchisio picked out Balotelli from near the halfway line. The forward controlled the ball perfectly before crossing for the onrushing Marchisio to head home from close range. Balotelli almost doubled Italys advantage shortly afterward but a last-ditch tackle saw his effort deflected over the bar. The tempo slowed down somewhat but Italy should have extended its lead two minutes before halftime, when free-kick specialist Andrea Pirlo saw his effort parried with a diving save by Anthony Moris and Balotelli fired just wide of the left upright as the moved continued. Moments earlier, Antonio Candreva had also fired narrowly wide. Balotelli had another chance just after the interval when he sent a snapshot past the far post. Antonio Cassano came off the bench for only his second appearance since the European Championship final in 2012 and he almost made an immediate impact with a through ball to Balotelli, who bamboozled two players before evading a tackle from a third as he unleashed a shot which crashed off the crossbar. Candreva also hit the crossbar moments later. Luxembourg had barely troubled Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon but levelled in the final minutes when Chanot headed home Mario Mutschs corner. Ignazio Abate almost immediately restored Italys advantage but was denied by Moris. Cheap Old Skool Vans . So far, so good: Gonzalez has allowed one run through 12 innings this season. Playing in his first ever Test outside of Asia, Yasir took 5-64 to become the first leg-spinner to claim five wickets at the Home of Cricket since Mushtaq Ahmeds 5-57 in 1996.Its remarkable for a wrist spinner to take five wickets on a day two pitch at Lords, Yasir said. The great Shane Warne never took five wickets on this ground. In his first Test away from Asia, and with no spin from the surface, he used his drift, flight, and his change of pace to bamboozle England. He bowled brilliantly.England played him poorly - there wasnt that much spin, maybe just three deliveries that turned big, but England played him like he was turning it miles. He almost bowled it like Anil Kumble used to, rather than a Mushtaq or a Warne, and it worked brilliantly. Joe Root will admit that he opened the door for Pakistan with a loose shot. He and Alastair Cook were bossing the game, but his soft dismissal let Pakistan in.Thats dangerous against Pakistan - give them a sniff and theyll take it, and they did. Yasir Shah stole the show as he claimed five wickets at Lords Root (48) put on 110 for the second wicket with England top-scorer Cook (80), but his wicket - to a top-edged sweep - sparked a collapse that saw the hosts slip from 118-1 to 193-6.Chris Woakes followed up his 6-70 with the ball with an unbeaten 31 to help England up to 253-7 at the close, still trailing by 86 runs.Hussain feels Woakes efforts ensure he will stay in the Test team for a long time, and his batting helps set up a fascinating third days play. Chris Woakes says England are disappointed with their batting performance but feel theyre still in the game He said: England dont need parity because of Pakistans batting line-up - make no mistake, England can bowl Pakistan out cheaply.dddddddddddd Its a perfectly set-up Test match.Woakes has to play the next game. He started the day with wickets, he ended it with runs. Every time weve watched him recently he gets runs and wickets. Weve picked Yasir as our player of the day after his five wickets The headache now for England is reserved for Steven Finn and others along the line. After the tour of South Africa, Woakes was the most droppable England cricketer when people talked about who we were going to leave out. The argument was, Hes only a county player. The lad has proved a lot of people wrong. He has proven in the last two months that he is a proper international cricketer.Watch day three of the first Test live on Sky Sports 2 from 10.30am on Saturday, with the Saturday Debate on beforehand from 10am.
