Alabama has held the top ranking in college football since the preseason, but this week, they face their biggest test of the season in the fourth-ranked Auburn Tigers. The two largest public universities in the state of Alabama have a rivalry that extends back to 1893 when they played the first installment of the Iron Bowl. The Alabama Crimson Tide have not lost since November 10, 2012, including all 11 of their games this season, and faced few challenges along the way. The top-ranked team has won all but one game by more than 12 points; a 49-42 victory over then sixth-ranked Texas A&M in their second game of the season. Alabama is the unquestioned best team in college football, winning their games by an average of 30.4 points. Despite being 10-1, Auburn is a very different story as the highest ranked team without a perfect record. Auburns lone loss came on September 21 against LSU, a team Alabama beat 38-17 and they boast the second best rushing offence in the NCAA, averaging just over 320 yards per game on the ground. However, Auburn has looked far from perfect this season. Narrow wins over Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Texas A&M had many people questioning the teams rank (7) entering their Week 12 matchup against No. 25 Georgia and the Tigers failed to put those questions to bed. After being outscored by the Bulldogs 21-3 in the fourth quarter, they found themselves down 38-37 facing 4th-and-18 with just 36 seconds left on the clock. Then, quarterback Nick Marshall threw a Hail Mary pass in to Georgias prevent-defence. Playing in double coverage, Georgia safeties Josh Harvey-Clemons and Tray Matthews both attempted to make a play on the ball but the two collided and knocked the ball into the air. As the two defensive backs fell to the ground, Auburn wide receiver Ricardo Louis grabbed the ball out of mid-air and ran untouched into the end zone to give Auburn a miracle victory. Two weeks later, Auburn hosts their in-state rivals coming off a bye week and sitting at a season-high fourth place in the BCS rankings. Alabama has won two straight BCS National Championship games and a win against Auburn will put the team an SEC championship game victory away from playing for a third straight title. Auburn last defeated Alabama in 2010, en route to winning the second national championship in the schools history. Though the odds are in favour of Alabama, can Auburn continue their magical season and dethrone the Crimson Tide from the nations top seed? As always, its Your! Call. Clint Capela Jersey . Against everyone else, not so much. Zack Greinke threw eight sharp innings, Yasiel Puig and Scott Van Slyke homered and the Dodgers added to their mastery of the Diamondbacks with a 7-0 victory on Friday night. Los Angeles improved to 8-1 against Arizona this season, and the Dodgers are 15-19 against everybody else. "They have outplayed us, outpitched us," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "The guy that beat us tonight has his best stuff going this year." Dodgers manager Don Mattingly downplayed the dominance. "Theres teams you hit well as a player, you pitch good against," he said. "This is one of those teams we played well against this year. Hopefully that continues." Greinke (7-1), in his longest outing of the season, allowed two or fewer runs for the 21st consecutive game, the longest such streak in the majors since at least 1914. Asked how much he thinks about that he said, "not much, actually" "Its not like one of the more important streaks," Greinke said. "Its not a real big deal." He gave up five hits, struck out six, walked two and had an RBI double. "I forgot how fun it is to catch him," said A.J. Ellis, just back from the disabled list. Puig had three hits and drove in two runs. He and Van Slyke hit solo homers off Wade Miley (3-4) as the Diamondbacks fell to 4-16 at Chase Field. Van Slyke does to Miley what the Dodgers do to the Diamondbacks. He is 7 for 16 in his career against the left-hander with four home runs, three this year. Puig, who fell a triple shy of the cycle, extended his career-best hitting streak to 15 games. "Im trying to get hits and put a swing on good pitches," Puig said to reporters in Spanish. "I wasnt worried hitting for the cycle or anything like that." Mattingly said Puig "is getting better all the time and hes getting closer to being that player that has a chance to make a huge impact.dddddddddddd." Brian Wilson, who entered the game with a 10.22 ERA, pitched the ninth to complete the shutout. The Diamondbacks have not led in any of their six home games against Los Angeles, two of them in Sydney, Australia, to open the season. Miley gave up four runs and seven hits in six innings, with three walks and three strikeouts. Puig got the Dodgers going with a drive into the right-field seats on a 2-2 pitch from Miley with one out in third. It was his eighth home run of the season. The bottom of the Los Angeles order accounted for two runs in the fourth. Van Slyke led off with a double, then scored on Ellis single. Greinke followed with an RBI double to the gap in left-centre. They were the first RBIs of the season for Ellis and Greinke. Van Slyke hit Mileys first pitch in the sixth high off the batters eye in centre field, far above the 407-foot sign and it was 4-0. Los Angeles got two runs off reliever Randall Delgado in the seventh. Puig singled and scored when Hanley Ramirez doubled. Matt Kemp brought Ramirez home with a fielders choice. The Dodgers added an unearned run in the eighth when shortstop Chris Owings, trying to nab speedy Dee Gordon for a double play, threw the ball 10 rows into the seats above the Los Angeles dugout. Gordon scored from first on Puigs double. In the ninth, umpire Quinn Wolcott ruled that Miguel Montero had beaten out an infield hit but the Dodgers challenged and the call was reversed on review.
